Each just over 2ft (60cm) across, they are modelled with lion mask handles and decorated in enamels with large blossoming chrysanthemums, peonies and perching birds, between pink sgraffito and diaper borders.

They were previously owned by the Portuguese-American fashion and art patron and collector Maria da Conceição (São) Schlumberger (1929- 2007) and were acquired by the vendor in New York in 1998 at The Chinese Porcelain Company, New York.
