It is one of a small group of Chinese paintings that come for sale at Woolley & Wallis in Salisbury on November 23 by descent from the collection of Field Marshal Sir Archibald P Wavell (1883-1950).
It was given to him by He Yingqin (1890-1987), a senior general of the Kuomintang and a close ally of Chiang Kaishek, in March 1943 when he was in Chongqing.
