The group focuses on 19th century revivalist jewels in neo-gothic and classical styles alongside a selection of 30 Art Deco vanity cases from Cartier and other famous names of the period.

Pictured here is one of the revivalist jewels: a gold sautoir necklace in gothic style fashioned with the head of noblewoman set within a frame. It dates from the 1880s and is the work of the Paris-based revivalist goldsmith and jeweller Jules Wiese (1818-90) and his son Louis (1852-1923).

Wiese senior, who was born in Berlin, moved to Paris where he worked under the goldsmith and jeweller François-Desiré Froment-Meurice before setting up his own workshop. His son Louis was trained by him and took over the workshop after Louis’ death.

The estimate on the sautoir is €12,000-18,000.
