Pallant House Gallery

Modern British art specialist Pallant House Gallery hopes to raise the final thousands of pounds needed to keep Christopher Wood’s ‘China Dogs in a St Ives Window’ (1926) in its Chichester gallery.

A large drawing by Edgar Degas (1834-1917) which has never been exhibited before has gone on display at Pallant House Gallery after being acquired by the Chichester gallery via the Acceptance in Lieu scheme.

Works by Picasso, Matisse and Graham Sutherland all form part of an extraordinary collection built up by a former binman and school caretaker, Michael Woodford, who died last year aged 76.

THE architect of the newly built British Library is to donate 600 art works collected over 50 years to the nation. Professor Sir Colin St John Wilson will hand over the gift to Pallant House Gallery in Chichester via the National Art Collections Fund (Art Fund), the UK’s leading independent art charity.
